Background:

This is an agriculturally oriented development of a project originally sponsored by the BIOTECH programme, where the fundamental basis was established animals use antibodies to kill disease organisms. Idea is to give this mechanism to plants.

The objectives are:

Now the team progresses to the next step, up to the point of producing and testing new resistant plants (grown under containment/quarantine conditions)

Short description of the project:
Antibodies to tomato virus(tswv) and to tomato nematode (Meloidogyne) will be developed and expressed in tomatoes.
