An innovative research forum for an innovative and globally competitive European food industry

Objective

The global objective of this project is to create a platform involving academia and industry for the: marketing, interaction with the environment and consumer well-being, including aspects related to nutrition, health, acceptability and preferences); generation of young graduates capable of contributing to the required technology transfer in a dynamic innovation environment; - design of novel programmes, combining training and research in an internation setting, that would allow the European Food Industry to obtain a suitable provi of the human resources needed to maintain global competitiveness.

The work consists in the fulfilment of four major tasks. Each task is divided in subtasks, some of which will be performed by the group as a whole in general meetings (global subtasks), and others that will be carried out by specific subgroups, as a result of the work division made in the general meetings.

The tasks and sub-tasks that will be considered are:

Task I: Identification of perceived research priorities with greater potential impact in the European industrial competitiveness.
Subtask I.l (global): Identification of major areas (e.g. Biotechnology applications, food materials science and archistructure, functional ingredients, environmental impact, processing technologies, consumer studies and well-being).
Subtask I.2 (subgroups): Identification of specific research objectives in each area.

Task II: Identification of training elements required to obtain suitable professional profiles of young researchers working in/to industry.
Subtask II.I (global): Establishment of areas for new programmes (e.g. Food science and engineering, consumer studies) and of main topics in each area. Subtask II.2 (global): Definition of training approaches (i.e. Requirements for team work, industrial practice, selflearning tools, etc.).
Subtask II.3 (subgroups): Outline of the structure and content of the new programmes.

Task III: Design of new programmes (combining training and research in an international environment).
Subtask III. I (global): Monitoring ongoing initiatives of comparable nature.
Subtask III.2 (Plobal): Definition of academic components and forms of involving industry in the training.
Subtask III.3 (global): Definition of research components and forms of involving academia in the industrial projects.
Subtask iii.4 (global): Definition of the international dimension (Europe, industrialised countries, emerging markets)
Subtask III.5 (subgroups): Final design of the new programmes.

Task IV: Design of implementation measures.
Subtask IV. 1 (subgroups): Definition of budgets and financial planning.
Subtask IV.2 (subgroups): Definition of calendars for implementation.
Subtask IV.3 (global): Identification of sources and forms of funding.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
