INVENTORY OF INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF GUIDING PRINCIPLES IN DECOMMISSIONING

Objective

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY IS TO COLLECT INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF GUIDING PRINCIPLES IN DECOMMISSIONING OF NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS AND PREPARE A BASIC WORKING DOCUMENT, IN ENGLISH, TO SERVE A GROUP OF EXPERTS ASSISTING THE COMMISSION IN THIS IDENTIFICATION.
This paper is intended to assist all those involved in the decommissioning of nuclear installations by providing them with practical conclusions and references to technical documents which can be used for guidance at the planning stage.
The following topics are considered:
the standards and guiding principles of radiation protection and safety that are applicable to decommissioning;
an outline of the decommissioning requirements to be taken into account during the design and operation of nuclear installations;
the guiding principles for the choice of a decommissioning strategy;
the structure of a study, organisation required, necessary research;
the guiding principles for the maintenance of a nuclear installation in a safe condition over a long period;
the guiding principles for the choice of decommissioning techniques;
the guiding principles for the reduction of worker doses;
guidance on exemption rules.
1- RECOLLECTION OF GENERAL STANDARDS AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR RADIATION PROTECTION AND SAFETY, WHICH ARE RELEVANT TO DECOMMISSIONING.
2- GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS WITH A VIEW TO SIMPLIFYING THEIR SUBSEQUENT DECOMMISSIONING.
3- GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE SAFE STORAGE OF NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS
4- GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR SELECTION OF DECOMMISSIONING TECHNIQUES
5- GUIDING PRINCIPLES TO REDUCE OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE IN DECOMMISSIONING
6- GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE RELEASE OF MATERIALS, BUILDINGS AND SITES
7- GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE SELECTION OF A DECOMMISSIONING STRATEGY
