Set-up of an infrastructure for an EU -wide use of the data bases EC DB TOOL and EC DB COST

Objective

The European Commission is currently funding the development of the two decommissioning data bases EC DB COST and EC DB TOOL (contracts F14D-CT95-003 and 004)
A data base network to allow decommissioners within the European Union to easilyaccess EC DB COST and EC DB TOOL data will be set up. For this the data bases EC DB TOOL and EC DB COST need to be integrated on central servers, which allow a centralized maintenance. The hardware for a data base network will be selected and specified. Security aspects will have to be considered.
The network set-up includes the acquisition and installation of necessary hardware and software. Communication and network connections will have to be established.
Finally the data bases will be connected on the central servers. This requires the programming of necessary changes to the data bases.
At the end of the project one main server will be located in Brussels to give access to all data.
Furthermore the World Wide Web, an international information network, we will be used to give the public an understanding of the subject "decommissioning of nuclear installations". Information pages including short videos, photos and graphs on decommissioning projects will be included.
The second aim of the project is the intensification and extension of the data collection. Data of ongoing decommissioning projects will be continuously added to the data bases. Special contacts of the partners to other decommissioning projects worldwide will be used for data acquisition from within and outside the EU.
Finally the user group that is constituted in the ongoing EC DB TOOL and EC DB COST projects will be enlarged by the new partners of this project. The partners can contribute with their experience and knowledge to the current projects and vice versa. The aims of this project correspond with the aims of the ongoing projects.
