Evaluation of computational fluid dynamic methods for reactor safety analysis

Objective

The capabilities of the current Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) codes in relation to safety analysis of existing installations and evolutionary reactors will be assessed in the present project. Through a comprehensive evaluation of previous applications for both primary loop and containment analysis, recommendations on their use will be made and perspective application areas will be identified.

A consensus will be achieved on the code extensions that are needed for comprehensive simulations of a range of safety-relevant accident scenarios to prepare the technical basis for coordinated research projects in future. It includes a new validation exercise of basic capabilities of the codes in relation to containment analysis and severe AM. This is to improve understanding of merits and limitations of CFD and defining realistic goals of these methods in safety analysis and reinforcing network among CoC.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
