Nuclear risk-based inspection methodology

Objective

The project NURBIM is proposed under Key Action 2 (Nuclear Fission) and addresses sub-section 2.1 Operational safety of existing installations. The general areas addressed by NURBIM in fulfilment of this Key Action are as follows: Development of risk-based methodologies in order to optimise inspection and maintenance of NPPs and systems with reference to both safety and economics.

Promotion of best practice and a more integrated approach to inspect and assess NPP components within the European Union. Achievement of the objectives of NURBIM is strengthened considerably by the involvement of leading utilities and R&D organisations, and the association of the project with ENIQ (European Network for Inspection Qualification) on risk-based inspection.
