Extension of transuranus code applicability with NB contaning cladding models

Objective

Due to the lack of appropriate, internationally qualified codes, the proposal aims to provide an analytical tool for the simulation of VVER fuel performance under normal and off-normal conditions. The goal is to be achieved through the extension of the TRANSURANUS fuel code with new models for the high temperature oxidation, plastic deformation and failure of the Nb containing claddings. The proposed work-packages cover database development, model refinement, model development, extensive code validation through post-test computations and VVER plant application for hypothetical accidents. The project assists to reduce the conservatism in the safety analyses, support the verification of the fulfilment of the licensing acceptance criteria and opens the door for the simulation of new, Nb containing cladding materials appearing in the western design PWRs as well.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
