Objective
In most member states of the EU nuclear facilities (e.g. NPP) have at regular times large maintenance periods in which the possibility exists, that large components have to be released and treated as radioactive waste. At this moment large volume waste package (LVWP) form a minor quantity (less than 10%) of the total volume of radioactive waste, while it can be expected that in the near future, due to the age of most nuclear facilities, it will become an important fraction of the total waste offered. Therefore new NDA techniques, procedures and methods have to be developed to be able to perform independent QA/QC NDA characterisation. The development will be based on QA/QC NDA characterisation. The main effort will be the development of procedures and mobile NDA equipment for fissile as well for non-fissile waste, which can be used at the site of the waste producer (LVWP's cannot be transported in general to QA/QC facilities).

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
