The pseudodynamic test method applied to seismic isolation of structure

Objective

The objective of this research is to use the Pseudo Dynamic Test (PDT) method to study the dynamic behaviour of base isolated structures. The PDT method will be implemented at the Joint Research Center (JRC) using the facilities of the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (ELSA). Throughout this research the applicability and reliability of the method to base isolated structures will be studied. The research work will be carried out with the support of two Italian industries specialised in the production of base isolation devices. The results of the testing will constitute a valuable tool to correlate with analytical results and extrapolate guidelines for the design of safer and more efficient base isolated bridge and building structures.
