A design tool for geotextile reinforced earth structures

Objective

Because of the increasing scarcity of high-class raw material for earth structures, the importance of geotextile reinforcement is steadily increasing.
The design of such structures is rather complex because of the fact that we still know little about the mechanical behaviour of the soil-geotextile material. Thus, though many theoretical models are available in practice to design such structures, they are all based on a priori assumptions which may lead to dangerous results.
During the period of the grant, the applicant will improve modelling of the soilgeotextile interaction, in order to provide a more rigorous tool for the design of reinforced structures. For this purpose, he will use the theoretical model elaborated in the framework of his PhD, and the great experience in soil testing and excellent equipment of the Soil Mechanics Laboratory of Aalborg University.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
