Semi-classical approximation for classically chaotic quantum systems. Applications to mesoscopic systems and atomic physics

Objective

This project deals with the semiclassical approximation for quantum systems which are classically chaotic. The main objective is to develop more general formulas that can take into account various kind of experimental situations, in particular in solid-state physics and atomic physics. To get this result, one will use resummation techniques for semiclassical series, and compute corrections to these formulas (diffractive terms, and terms in higher order in h). Direct applications include semiclassical computation of weak localization in mesoscopic systems, study of the influence of disorder, and calculation of scattering amplitudes for an helium atom. Part of the project will be devoted to classical waves (elasticity) and dynamical systems.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
