Objective
In the context of the NA48 experiment at CERN-SPS, which will study the direct CP violation parameter E/E' , we propose
- to improve the precision on the mearuement of n, the parameter which describes the amount of CP violation concerning the charged decay modes; - to improve the precision by one order of magnitude on the measurement of the decay mode KL+vevy, poorly known at the time being;
- to exploit the use of parallel computing techniques to set up a completely innovative scheme for the real-time reconstruction of events and calibration of a liquid krypton calorimeter. The applicant has already acquired skills in parallel computing techniques, successfully developing a parallel Monte Carlo program to generate the huge statistics required by the experiment, using a Meiko CS2 parallel machine funded by the EU ESPRIT project.
