Objective
This project aims at studying the relationships between the process of family formation and the determinants of female work supply, through a comparative study within the countries of the European Union (and more particularly between the United Kingdom and France). On the one hand, this study will be based on a longitudinal analysis of Eurostat Labour Force Survey data, in order to put into light a variety of stylised facts relating to the changes in the demographic situation and the female situation with regard to the labour market. On the another hand, we will focus on the integration of socio-institutional aspects in the analysis of the female behaviours relating to the labour market. This will lead us to set the issue of the level of decision relating to female work within the household, and to consider the place of rationality as the main determinant of this decision.
