The role of mathematics in the education of engineers in Barcelona

Objective

Research objectives and content
- The general objective is to make a study of the system of engineer education from the point of view of skills and to focus this study on mathematics. - The operative objective is to determine sociological variables which have influence on the way of teaching mathematics in each school: variables attached to the student and variables concerning the scientific departments of every school. - Other objective is to make a qualitative analysis on the teaching of mathematics: lessons, use of equipment and documents, teaching methods, observations of the individual learning methods of a student sample.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
I expect to acquire reflexive knowledge on mathematics in engineering, industry and more generally in professional education.
Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
This research must allowed to understand better the relationships between fundamental science and technological education. It must enable the industrial managers to control better the links between therecruitment and their own strategies of innovation.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
