Phenomenology of supersymmetric extensions of the standard electroweak model

Objective

Research objectives and content
Study of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as low-energy effective lagrangian derived from a fundamental Grand Unified Theory (GUT). From a theoretical point of view the MSSM can be seen as the low-energy effective theory of a fundamental theory like superstring or supergravity. This fundamental theory may affects the low-energy sector in different and peculiar ways. The available mechanisms and the possible parametrizations of supersymmetry breaking will be investigated with a particular attention to the phenomenological consequences. Infact different choices of supersymmetric breaking terms will have different experimental allowed regions in the parameter space. This aspect will be of extraordinary relevance in sight of the existing and future experimental facilities as LEP II, TeV33, LHC and NLC. Experimental results from these colliders will permit to have a deeper look inside the MSSM and the fundamental GUT.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The analysis of phenomenological implications of the low-energy theory and the experimental results from the actual and next colliders will provide a deeper look inside the MSSM and the fundamental GUT.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
