Unknotting operations ,slicing pairs of wall type and c.t.c.wall's sum-stabilization integer k 6

Objective

Research objectives and content
Long term goal: find out more about wall's sum-stabilization integer k. The problem is open since the 1960's with only partial progress towards its understanding. How: create slicing pairs of 'wall-type'. One way of doing this is via unknotting operations. Short term: fully understand, define and generalize the notion and examples of unknotting operations. Develop necessary language and formalism to unify existing results. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact
I expect to, along with doing original work, further my knowledge and understanding of the mathematical disciplines involved, to sharpen my skills, widen my mathematical horizons and bring new ideas to my host institute.
Links with industry/ industrial relevance (22)
Peripheral (from my view point) Connections of classical knot theory with biology and computer science. The second is of interest to me for calculational reasons.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
