Objective Research objectives and content The overall objective of this proposal is to develop efficient synthetic routes that improve the practicality of the construction of taxoid analogues. Development of methods for the synthesis of such molecules formingthe basic structures of biologically active products, is an area of active investigation. The proposed pathway starts from methylcyclopentenone and benzoic acid methylester, which are readily available bulk chemicals, and places emphasis on step efficiency, simplicity and environmental factors. Furthermore, it allows numerous structural changes to be made in a very limited number of steps. The appropriateness of the experimental approach and procedures of the proposed scheme appears sufficiently promising to warrant completion. I Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) I will learn a great deal from this experience in terms of modern instrumental methods and laboratory techniques. Undoubtedly such an undertaking will allow me to reach a high level of knowledge and secure for me a job back in my country.
