Studies towards the total synthesis of taxoids

Objective

Research objectives and content
The overall objective of this proposal is to develop efficient synthetic routes that improve the practicality of the construction of taxoid analogues. Development of methods for the synthesis of such molecules formingthe basic structures of biologically active products, is an area of active investigation. The proposed pathway starts from
methylcyclopentenone and benzoic acid methylester, which are readily available bulk chemicals, and places emphasis on step efficiency, simplicity and environmental factors. Furthermore, it allows numerous structural changes to be made in a very limited number of steps. The appropriateness of the experimental approach and procedures of the proposed scheme appears sufficiently promising to warrant completion. I
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
I will learn a great deal from this experience in terms of modern instrumental methods and laboratory techniques. Undoubtedly such an undertaking will allow me to reach a high level of knowledge and secure for me a job back in my country.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
