Objective
Research objectives and content:
Nowadays catalysed reactions are preferred as they require only mild conditions and are atom economical. Therefore costs can be reduced and waist minimised. Hence it is necessary to investigate catalysed reactions, such as palladium-catalysed reactions. The objective of the research is the investigation of palladium-catalysed cascade reactions followed by intramolecular reactions. In these reactions oligo-heterocyclic molecules are formed starting with a straight molecule in a one-pot synthesis. The hetero-atom and also the side groups are varied. The effects of these alterations on the reaction and the reaction product (e.g. the sizes of the rings and stereo chemistry) are studied.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact):
During this project more knowledge out palladium-catalysed chemistry is obtained. Catalysed reactions are important as they require only mild conditions and are atom-economical. Also knowledge of reactions conducted in the department is obtained. This knowledge is important for a future career in organic chemistry. The investigated chemistry can be used in the synthesis of natural products and pharmaceuticals.
