Ionization dynamics - coincidence studies of electron and positron impact

Objective

Research objectives and content
To study the role of polarization, correlation and exchange effects in electron impact ionization of neutral targets. To study the role of non-local potentials, exchange and poistronium formation, on electron and positron impact ionization of atomic hydrogen. To consider spin asymmetry measurements on Li and Xe and determine the influence of exchange and relativistic effects. To explore the possibility of using Density Functional Theory to treat exchange- correlation effects in electron and positron impact ionization. Developing a Distorted Wave Born approximation where exchange is treated exactly in the incident and final channels Exploiting Density Functional Theory to create local exchange-correlation potentials. Implementing the computer codes on the latest generation of parallel processors.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
Advanced Training will be given in research in Atomic Collision theory Density Functional Theory and the use of the latest computer technology. I hope to be able to interact with the aim (e,2e) experimental groups in Europe who will benefit from my work.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
