European Export Controls of Dual Use: Goods and Technologies

Objective

Research objectives and content

I am planning to study the impact of the European export controls of dual use goods and technologies on the profits of the firms in the military and dual-use industry in Europe. Also, we want to analyse the effect of such policies on the consumer welfare in Europe and the security interests of the European Union. In the research I will use the literature on Strategic Trade and Industrial Organization in order to study this problem, which is also new in economic theory.

Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)

I will present the results of my research in articles which will be sent to scientific journals. Also, I will participate in conferences not only for economists but also for policy makers so that I can really give an application of my work in the context of the current concerns of the European Union. Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)

The Centre of Defence Economics at the University of York has many ongoing projects related with the military industry in UK and Europe. This will ensure that my research is directly relevant for the European industry.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
