Laser MATTER INTERACTION: NON-LINEAR PROCESSES and HIGH-RESOLUTION SPECTROSCOPY in the TIME and FREQUENCY DOMAINES

Objective

The Max Bom Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short.Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI) in Berlin. Germany, is a large, interdisciplinary research facility. It contains three scientific divisions, each led by one director. with a total of nine scientific departments. Research concentrates on the study of matter at the atomic and molecular level (two thirds of the departments), and on the development of short pulse and high intensity lasers (one third). While the institute maintains a competitive status and unique research possibilities and instrumentation in each of these areas, it derives its particular strength from their synergetic combination. This is offered to European visitors by means of access to collaborative research and specialized instrumentation, especially in dedicated "application laboratories" containing advanced femtosecond and high intensity lasers. Additional research possibilities arise from MBl s location in the newly established technology park Berlin Adlershof, including industrial collaborations, and future direct access to a third generation synchrotron BESSY 11.
MBI is a partner of a cluster of European Large Scale Facilities. further including LENS (Florence. Italy). LIF-ENSTA-X (Palaiseau, France), ULF-FORTH (Heraklion, Greece), and LACK (Lund, Sweden).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
