Objective
The Laboratoire Leon Brillouin (LLB), french laboratory, carries out fundamental research in the field of condensed matter using 24 spectrometers installed on the neutron beams of the reactor Orphie. LLB proposes to put at the disposal of European Community researchers 10% of its total experiment time (which is typically 4600 days per year). Orphie is a modern reactor, equipped to produce altogether thermal, 'cold' and 'hot' neutrons. So, european researchers, in particular those coming from countries which do not have a reactor, find at LLB very performant equipments: diffractometers for structure determination on powders or single crystals, diffuse and small angle scattering, reflectometers, and spectrometers for inelastic scattering study of dynamics and excitations. LLB is an excellent place for training of young researchers, because they meet many colleagues of various origins, and also because the management of beam time allows deeper reflexion and more discussions.
This opening of LLB to european researchers, which requires a large effort of its scientific staff, will be very beneficial in terms of increased scientific collaboration. Apart from the travel and subsistence fees, a financial contribution of the European Community to the corresponding running costs, is essential for a correct operation of the project.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
