Objective
Principal characteristics of the facility and of the support offered to users:
THE SILVOLAB FACILITY, LOCATED IN FRENCH GUYANA, CONSISTS OF 2 FIELD STATIONS IN TROPICAL RAINFOREST (WITH PERMANENT PLOTS AND DATA COLLECTED OVER MORE THAN 10 YEARS), OF PROXIMITY LABORATORIES (GENETICS, MICROBIOLOGY, ANALYTICAL MEANS, ECOPHYSIOLOGY, REMOTE-SENSING AND CARTOGRAPHY, WOOD TECHNOLOGY, HERBARIUM, DOCUMENTATION, CALCULATION MEANS) AND OF AN INFORMATION SYSTEM OFFERING ACCESS TO ALL DATABASES OF FIELD STATION AND LABORATORIES. 17 SCIENTISTS ARE PERMANENT, AND MORE OR LESS 100 SCIENTISTS ARE USED TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE FACILITY.
THE ACCESS OFFERED IS TO THE WHOLE FACILITY, THAT IS FIELD STATIONS, INFORMATION SYSTEM AND LABORATORIES. A PROJECT OF TMR USERS IS TO BE UNDERSTOOD AS ONE SCIENTIFIC PROJECT OF ONE TO THREE SCIENTISTS, INTEGRATING FIELD WORK, DATA PROCESSING AND LABORATORY WORK DURING 2 JOURNEYS OF 2 MONTHS EACH IN FRENCH GUYANA.
TMR USERS WILL BENEFIT OF A SCIENTIFIC COMPLEX EQUIPPED AT THE LEVEL OF CONTINENTAL EUROPEAN QUALITY STANDARDS, LOCATED IN THE CONTEXT OF EQUATORIAL RAINFOREST. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PROPOSE SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS IN RELATION WITH ONGOING RESEARCH (STANDS DYNAMICS, FOREST REGENERATION, BIODIVERSITY DISTRIBUTION, SPATIO-TEMPORAL EVOLUTION OF GENETIC DIVERSITY, ECOLOGY, NUTRITION, WOOD TECHNOLOGY, ECOPHYSIOLOGY, ...) BUT ALSO TO DEVELOP NEW THEMATICS AND NEW APPROACHES (FOR EXAMPLE BIODIVERSITY VALORIZATION, HUMAN DISEASE INSECT VECTORS, BIOSPHERE-ATMOSPHERE EXCHANGES. ...).
FUNDING REQUESTED IS 598 KECU, AND IS OUGHT TO COVER EXPENSES OF TMR USERS (TRAVEL AND SUBSISTENCE, CONSUMABLES, FIELD ASSISTANCE) AND OF THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT (SELECTION PANEL, PARTICIPATION TO TMR MEETINGS AND OVERHEADS). NO PARTICIPATION TO THE ANNUAL RUNNING COSTS OF THE FACILITY WILL BE CHARGED.
Quantity of access being offered and number of users who may benefit: THE ACCESS OFFERED IS FOR 20 SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS (10 PROJECT PER YEAR). THAT WILL BENEFIT TO 40 SCIENTISTS, AND REPRESENT A QUANTITY OF ACCESS OF 160 SCIENTISTS MONTHS.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
