NANOTUBES for MICROSTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGY

Objective

All the nodes represent Training Centers (seven major European clear understanding of the role of the various parameters which can be Universities) on complementary fields of first importance for the adjusted for the production process and an understanding of the growth development of the project. Among the 282 man-months of young researchers process.
requested by the network, between 20 and 35 will be devoted to visits at - to control the purification of the nanotubes, and their selection in the various nodes which will permit to the visitors to acquire other expertises than the one they got in their own laboratory.
size (diameter and length) as well as to modify carbon nanotubes. This implies to optimize the various current chemical and physical.purification techniques and to use afterwards graphitization, intercalation and polymerization methods.
- to understand the relationship between the geometric and structural characteristics of nanotubes (and the modified nanotubes) and their physical properties.
- to investigate the electrical transport properties of individual nanotubes. This implies measurements of the electrical conductivity, the comparison of the obtained results with the theoretical predictions and an assessment of the likely technological applications.
