Objective
The objectives of this Working Group are:
- to define short, medium and long term strategic needs of the European IC industry in the Integration in Manufacturing field. Results are recommendations to the Commission based on the IC industries' need in the IiM field.
- accompany RTD work in this area. The evaluation of existing (European) RTD and as a result, either support and enhance future research and technological development by forging links or as another result initiating new cooperation.
- accelerate information dissemination by workshops and by a MandIiM information server on the web.
http://www:mandiim.org
Workshops will be organised to define common strategic needs, to evaluate existing RTD and if necessary coordinate RTD by forging links to other teams or initiating new cooperative alliances. The workshops will be accompanied by short scientific site visits to the partners state-of-the-art facilities and research institutes, in addition to visits to European and non-European industries, as yet to be identified.
Consultation will take place with internationally recognised experts, who will meet to discuss specific topics.
Dissemination will be via a Conference in 1998, wide distribution of reports. Intermediate results will be put on the MandIiM information server on the WWW.
