Objective
The goal of the project is to create an extensible integrated toolset supporting all phases of the creation of a modern HPC application, from existing code re-engineering to parallel code maintenance. This unique toolset on the market will reach the following strategic goal :
Bundle two major European tools dedicated for the support of FORTRAN applications : FORESYS from SIMULOG and VAMPIR from PALLAS
Integrate the existing tools in a seamless graphical framework providing easy to use graphical program representations transparently linked to textual views, support for emerging hybrid architecture, support for cache utilisation, MPI usage analysis
The main result of the project is the Fortran Integrated Toolset software product. The toolset itself will be portable, running on popular workstations, and will comply to the relevant OS, GUI, language and parallel processing standards. The modules created in FITS are the following :
Graphical user interaction module
FORTRAN 90 conversion and code-clean up module
Internal program representation and analysis services
User transformation module
Performance visualisation module
New modules which could subsequently be added to FITS would include HPF compilers and tools, as well as additional MPI-based tools.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
