Exploitable results

The DECIDE-IT results are a methodology (workbook and training materials) and a software tool for the development of practical, easy-to-use problem solving systems. These problem solving systems are based on decision trees to allow the logical investigation of most types of problem. This method provides a simple means of collecting knowledge of shop floor problems (experts knowledge) and making it available to everyone. This means that the knowledge to solve problems is always with the company, even when the relevant expert is not. The DECIDE-IT results are aimed at small manufacturing companies. These companies will have typically, 50 employees or less. The main technical achievement made whilst developing the results was to make an advanced and information technology (IT) approach simple and applicable to small manufacturing companies. The results are currently being used in 2 small manufacturing companies in the UK and 3 small manufacturing companies in Greece.
