Objective
The advantages of new materials, improved sharing technology and a new hardening technology in gear manufacturing will lead to higher competitiveness of European cars by the optimisation of manufacturing steps including the aim of reducing the process chain with one full step namely the final grinding.
The elimination of the grinding process and the use of high pressure gas quenching after vacuum carburising leads to significant ecological advantages by avoiding the use of quenching oil and cooling lubricant. Vacuum carburising consumes less energy and furthermore the working conditions and safety of employees are improved by the elimination of quenching oil. For the further reduction of cooling lubricant and as a consequence of washing product utilisation, the dry shaving process will also be investigated.
