Objective
Virtual Reality technology is the latest presentation technique to come out of the University environment, largely driven and financed by the requirements of the military establishment and the space exploration industries. This project will combine this core technology qith integrated and enhanced modelling and simulation tools to create a cost competitive suite of software solutions for industrial applications. The tools when developed will provide industry with a new method of creating and validation "World Class Entreprises" as well as providing an interactive immersive environment based on the creation of the "Intelligent Virtual Factory" as the platform to train or retrain a workforce, and to transfer industrial skills to rural regions. This Project has been endorsed by the International IMS Committee as outline Proposal Number 97007, and has been submitted for full approval. The Full Proposal has been positively evaluated technically, with final endorsement pending.
