Objective Production time reduction is one of the main requirements for manufacturing processes today. In order to achieve this goal, machines are becoming lighter and poorly damped. Therefore, dynamic and acoustical problems have been stressed. The aim of this project is to solve that problem using glued light and highly damping structures made of cheap conventional materials. An agile integrated design environment, a methodology to get damping information and design guide for glued structures will be provided. Techniques, skills and tools developed will be tested on three real scenarios. The selected machines cover a wide range of requirements to analyse the possibility of generalisation of the solution provided to other machines and even other sectors (railbodies, cars, lifts, etc) that deal with similar problems (energy saving, noise and vibration control, production costs, etc.).
