Smart devices for machine tools

Objective

The procurement of advanced manufacturing equipment is a key factor for European industry competitiveness. From the technical point of view, the objective of the project is to develop smart mechatronical devices to eliminate the static and dynamic errors that limit the performance of machine tools in metal cutting processes. This allows a substantial reduction of the machining time, due to a reduction in the number of operations to obtain a given precision, and/or increased machining speed. SMARTOOL project comprises the definition, design, development, prototype construction, test & industrial validation, continued by further exploitation of a set smart mechatronical devices f based on the innovative piezoelectric stiff motion technology, and their integration in the whole range of metal cutting machine tool systems.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
