Objective
Continuous casting is an important method in the process chain of cost efficient manufacture of high quality forged components and continuous cast profiles. In contrast to aluminium, for the processing of magnesium there are currently no continuous casting methods which are safe and suitable for broad application. To fill this gap in the process chain, a magnesium adapted continuous casting device shall be developed in this project. By changing the process direction, a safe and user friendly technology shall be developed which can also be applied by small- and medium-size companies with regard to flexibility and investment expenditure. The development of an adapted numerical process model shall shorten development times and shall allow series production by the time of completion of the project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
