Triaxial accelerometer for vibration and motion sensing in measurement equipment

Objective

Vibration causes physical impairment and is now a major feature of health legislation in many countries. Sensing of vibration transferred to the human frame is currently done with three accelerometers attached to a tri-axial block providing three axis measurement. Distortion and damping of the natural signals caused by the large mass and turning moments created by the bulk, limit the accuracy and reliability of the measurement. The physical size creates further limitations on hand held applications. The sensors must therefore be non-invasive and avoid distorting the measurement due to excessive damping or limiting the application due to size. The proposal seeks a design and technological solution to the production of such advice by evaluating the options for a low mass, integrated micro-fabricated sensor measuring in the three axes with the possibility of angular orientation. The piezoelectric characteristics of silicon micro machining and thin film will be evaluated.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
