Innovative plant and technology for spinnig bicomponent pp, pe, ps, and pa staple fibres with high flexibility and low environmental impact

Objective

The existing polyolephinic fibre production process is based on the extrusion of polymers made fluid by high temperature, for spinning such process need a long time of permanence in the spinnerets and a high temperature, which in turn submit the polymer to high fatigue and stresses and does not allow to obtain a fibre with the characteristics of tenacity and stabilisation as close to natural fibres as possible needed for the actual applications in fashion. Another important factor to be taken into account, especially when dealing with fashion applications, is flexibility both in terms of type and composition of the fibre and in term of quantity and colour of the different batches to be produced. The main goal of the Project will therefore be the study, design and development of a new spinning system for bi-component staple fibres with the characteristics and foreseen improvements with respect to the state of the art The project will fit into the objectives of KEY ACTION 2.1 'Innovative products, processes and organisation of the Growth" action of the 5th Framework Programme.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
