Objective
The aim of the proposed project is to strengthen the European furniture makers by developing and testing means to facilitate optimum utilisation of their investments in new technology, mainly IT-tools and automation. Further, the project demonstrates the furniture industry's version of the extended enterprise, including some of the specific tools and methodologies needed to implement this model between furniture manufacturers in the EU and their counterparts in the accession countries. Technically, the project addresses problems of:- product modularisation and configuration versus conventional architectural design- IT supported integration of pre-calculations, bid preparation and work preparation- exchange of technical information via IT network Organisationally, the project addresses problems of:- distribution of tasks among partners in the virtual enterprise- transfer of concepts for quality and productivity improvements- cross boarder integrated production management
