Objective
Anyone, no matter who they are, can be faced with a fire situation, and the result is likely to depend on whether or not they have received appropriate fire safety training. Both theoretical and practical training are essential, but it is difficult for companies to provide time for their staff to travel to file training centres in order to use the equipment necessary for practical training. The objective of the project will be to design and develop fire-training units based on standard freight containers. The containers will be MOBILE in order permit theoretical and practical fire safety instruction to be given to groups of staff close to their place of work. The units will be will be AUTONOMOUS, multi-functional, modular, safe and relatively low-cost. The first SME proposer, Eurofeu proposes to exploit the results both by using the units itself to extend its current programmes of fire safety training, and by selling units to other companies who will also give training. The second SME proposer, a manufacturer of fire fighting equipment, will supply equipment for use in the units, and will provide a continuing source of know-now for the training programmes relating to fire-fighting technology.
