Objective
Plastic components containing metallic parts are widespread due to their versatility and performance. Many sectors make use of them and the demand will grow considerably. The production techniques are not optimised and are faced with the problem of placing the metallic parts in the plastic moulds, which at present is done manually and causes a huge increase in the time to produce components, a reduction of throughput and increased costs. This project will develop automated ways to load metallic parts. This will be done by combining direct expertise in co-moulding, control of industrial processes, precision mechanics and chemistry. An automated system to load metallic parts on moulds will cut by a factor of 2-3 the production cycle with a proportional gain in terms of throughput and cost-efficiency. The project will generate markets of millions of Euro, will improve the technology and the work environment of many industries, and will create employment for technical staff in Europe.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
