Objective
The project aims to implement a new technology applicable to leather finishing, by the synthesis of new UV curable polymers and developing their applicative formulation to the specific requirements of this material: flexibility, elasticity, fastness, adhesion, look, handle, etc., in such a way that permits to reach the maximum quality performance without the current use of solvent based coats or water based externally cross linked systems, such as poliaziridines or isocianates, which are harmful for workplace application and for the environment. The secondary objectives are:
- the synthesis of the suitable polymer able to afford the required characteristics in use
- the building of the mechanical equipment necessary for a correct application of the method: coating machine and UV -radiation tunnel adapted to leather characteristics
- the formulation of finishing compositions with the appropriate additives for the several applicative purposes, thus developing the products that will be directly marketed for industrial use.
