Objective
Electronics manufacturers are looking for more flexible assembly techniques in order to respond to market demands more quickly. A major difficulty within traducing Flexible Manufacture to the electronics industry has been the inflexibility of the solder reflow oven. Much time can be lost setting up are flow oven for a different product and small batch sizes can result in lower yields. Additional difficulties are brought about by the move towards Lead Free soldering, which requires higher soldering temperatures, the use of inert gas and more accurate temperature control. Both SME and large manufacturers would benefit from the modularity of the proposed system, which offers lower initial capital investment costs, reduced factory floor space, the ability to upgrade, reconfigure and expand systems in a modular manner, smaller production batches, quicker set-up times, reduced time to market, improved Lead Free solder joint quality and product yield, hence reduced costs and material waste.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
