Development of a device for electronic recording, localisation and identification of timber.

Objective

The presented project aims to develop an integrated system, which enables the recording and localisation as well as the identification of cut wood in an electronically way working in the field respectively in the forest. The development will enable the forest enterprises to control and handle the wood from the tree to the timber electronically. By this the timber can put very efficiently on to the wood stock markets such as Internet Stock Exchanges for timber. The intended device will consist out of three main modules
(i) electronic recording device,
(ii) electronic localisation device based on the GPS technique,
(iii) electronic identification device based on e.g. the transponder technique. All modules must meet the rough conditions of the environment. By this the main RTD work is determined by different work packages : A.Basic development and analysis, B.Development of the modules and manufacturing of prototypes, C.Tests trials and training/educating
