Objective Traditional methods to bend metal plates are relatively primitive and require processing afterwards. With the new high power lasers it is possible to deform metal plates very precisely. An advantage of the new method is that it prevents unwanted deformation. for thin metal sheets up to 4 mm there are positive results for use in industry. The process is called laser bending. However for thick plates (more than 6 mm), the method fails. The objective of the project is to solve the problems concerning laser bending for thick plates and the development of a prototype for the bending of metal plates with high power lasers for ship and yacht building industry, automotive industry, for prototyping of e.g. car bodies, furniture etc. Fields of science engineering and technologymechanical engineeringvehicle engineeringautomotive engineeringnatural sciencesphysical sciencesopticslaser physics Programme(s) FP5-GROWTH - Programme for research technological development and demonstration on "Competitive and sustainable growth 1998-2002" Topic(s) 1.1.3.-1. - Key Action Innovative Products, Processes and Organisation Call for proposal Data not available Funding Scheme EAW - Exploratory awards Coordinator MACHINEFABRIEK VAN BRUMMELEN EU contribution No data Address Amperestraat 10-12 8912 AD LEEUWARDEN Netherlands See on map Total cost No data Participants (1) Sort alphabetically Sort by EU Contribution Expand all Collapse all ALURO Belgium EU contribution No data Address Industriepark 12, Zone B 2220 HEIST-OP-DEN-BERG See on map Total cost No data
