Contactless deformation of metal plates in industry using new high power laser technology

Objective

Traditional methods to bend metal plates are relatively primitive and require processing afterwards. With the new high power lasers it is possible to deform metal plates very precisely. An advantage of the new method is that it prevents unwanted deformation. for thin metal sheets up to 4 mm there are positive results for use in industry. The process is called laser bending. However for thick plates (more than 6 mm), the method fails. The objective of the project is to solve the problems concerning laser bending for thick plates and the development of a prototype for the bending of metal plates with high power lasers for ship and yacht building industry, automotive industry, for prototyping of e.g. car bodies, furniture etc.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
