Oil mill waste waters concentration and drying via an innovative barometric vacuum distillation system

Objective

This project concerns the environmental pollution of oil waste waters (OMWW) and aims at eliminating it by means of an innovative energy-efficient and cost competitive, distillation technology with a broad application potential in European Mediterranean Areas and beyond. The approach is based on concentration of OMWW through an innovative distillation: process driven by a refrigerator-heat-pump-loop and occurring under barometric vacuum conditions. The barometric vacuum distillation plant (BVDP) proposed has several useful features: great energy-efficiency; durable and economic industrial components with low maintenance requirements, use of either conventional or renewable energy sources (e.g. FV or wind energy) for driving its refrigerator-heat-pump loop. The overall aim of the project is the design, construction and test of a small capacity prototype BVDP for carrying out a technical validation of the proposed technology for the control of OMWW environmental effects.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
