Development of a reliable and cost effective seal to protect glass containers from contamination

Objective

At the end of the project, the following main results have been achieved:
- definition of system requirements and specifications of the beverages and glassware producers;
- conceptual design of the PROGLASS system, including the seal tape, the applying and removing modular heads;
-numerical analysis of the application system (modal analysis to eliminate possible sources of vibrations) and of removing system (fluodynamic analysis to improve the efficiency of the apparatus);
- detailed design of the applying and removing systems;
- detailed design of the seal tape considering different kinds of plastics and laminated and co-extruded structures;
- manufacturing of the prototype of applying system and removing system;
- testing of different plastic films of novel formulation for the envisaged application;
- the software tool for the control of the system and the adaptation of PROGLASS to different plant layouts.
