Objective
The ULEV TAP II proposal is submitted in response to the Growth 2001 call for proposals. It addresses the objectives of KA 3: Land Transport and Marine Technologies with respect to "Critical technologies for road and rail transport" and "New land transport vehicle concepts enhanced systems efficiency". The ULEV - TAP II consortium with four industrial partners in the transport sector, two universities with international reputation, one transport consultancy and seven European demonstration sites seeks for technical solutions to improve regional passenger transport systems in urban and suburban areas.
The result will be a hybrid power train with following characteristics:
- environmentally suitable (less noise, less pollutants)
- energy efficient (40% less)
- cost efficient (30% less)
- meeting the market demand (in Europe and worldwide)
More specifically the innovative vehicle concept will provide:
- prime mover unit with high performance but low emissions
- power booster energy recovery unit with minimum weight and size but maximum performance
- a drive brake unit with maximum increase of the efficiency
- a vehicle all supply for electric power control on various supply conditions all based on a modern, innovative, low-floor vehicle platform.
