Objective Fuel oil used by shipping should be volume measured, proportionally sampled and analysed before being used. After analysis ships engines can be set within design parameters resulting in minimising engine wear. This will also have an effect on the exhaust gases being sent into the atmosphere, so they have little as possible impact on the environment. The design and construction of a combined proportional flow sampler which must be self powered, extremely accurate and meet the requirements of ISO 3171 will reduce the risk of engine failure and benefit the environment.
