Small hybrid city-car operated with biofuels or lpg

Objective

The proposers intend to develop two types of commercial low-cost, low-pollution and small capacity with a maximum power of around 3.5 kW) Hybrid Cars: These cars will be powered by a combined system Internal Combustion Engine/Electric Batteries - one with a diesel engine, one with an Otto-engine. In urban areas the IC engine would be switched off: the motion wheels will be driven by the electric motor using the energy stored in the charged batteries. In this way the vehicle will not produce pollutant emissions during town driving, thus classifying the proposed hybrid propulsion systems as a Near-ZEV. The SCOPE of the proposed exploratory awards (feasibility study proposal) is to assess the business opportunity for manufacturing and marketing a small low pollution two-seats hybrid city-car to be used particularly in historical urban areas not suitable for the traffic conditions of the presence, like e.g. Florence(IT) and Barcelona (ES).
