Fully electrical actuators for redundant remote controlled systems for valves

Objective

The control of valves is an important technological issue for many industries such as naval, offshore, gas, oil, water and power generation. For example on ships hundreds of valves must be remotely controlled. The present systems adopt a combination of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic technology that is far from ideal because it is unreliable, costly to maintain and environmentally unsatisfactory. The project will develop a fully electrical remote controlled system for valves that will overcome the above problems. By doing so it will improve the technology and standards of many industrial sectors, it will create important markets for the proposers and will generate employment opportunities for skilled staff across the whole of Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
