Project for developing a very-light-aircraft capable to be mainly employed in agricultural treatments, disinfestations, and to fight against locusts.

Objective

The proposed project will be a low-cost high performance aircraft; smaller quantity of active product will be shed in the environment than in traditional methods. Nowadays, large fields and tillage can be treated either using land machines or aircraft. The former are too slow and can he hindered by obstacles and the latter are helicopters or aircraft built purposely over 50 years ago, when pollution and cost problems were not considered.
The main defects of the present technology are:
1) large dimension and heavy weight,
2) long runways for full-load takeoffs,
3) very power engines (min.500HP) ,
4)high min. speed,
5)limited maneuverability. The proposed project will circumvent these drawbacks by building a light-weight aircraft (450kg), capable of flying at reduced speed and taking-off a full load in less than 100meters on semi-prepared land. Promising markets are: Africa, Latin America and EU. In Italy, vineyards are very interested by "vagabond" for precise treatments in small target-lands.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
