Rotorcraft monitoring and diagnosis systems

Objective

Regarding the saturation of the regional transport sector, rotary wing aircraft, which realized big progress in terms of security, seems as one of the possible solutions allowing to ease congestion in the existing infrastructures without creating new one of the major rotorcraft manufacturers, positions to answer this new need. Besides the systems worked out to improve safety in use of rotary wing aircraft became more complex, increasing consequently exploitation costs. These systems are called Health and Usage Monitoring Systems.
The current HUMS offer extremely potentialities :
- Prediction and anticipation breakdowns
- Correction of piloting and maintenance human errors
- Maintenance operation suited after engine torque overshoots
- Overhaul period adaptation thanks to the real flight spectrum acquisition. The researches works objective is to validate the implementation of new technologies for the next generation of HUMS entailing a decline of the exploitation cost.
Researches will bide within Eurocopter's research department and in the ENSAM laboratory (engineer high school) and will consist in
- Model the various cost cycles
- participate in the development of a HUMS which will treat points having a strong incidence on ownership global costs
- Investigate other sources of information
- Put through the cost evaluation model filter the various technical solutions proposed on the HUMS The postgraduate fellow will become integrated into this strategic objective and will interface with a team constituted of 2 engineers doctors and 4 engineers.
He will work within the "diagnosis system" team, whose objective is to define and develop HUMS which will treat points having a strong incidence on the aircraft vital elements. The fellow should be an engineer, preferably specialized in aeronautics. He will benefit from an office and a friendly environment having already served for welcoming previous fellows.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
