Centre of excellence in nano- and microscale characterization and development of advanced materials

Objective

It is proposed to establish a Centre of Excellence in Nano- and Microscale Characterization and Development of Advanced Materials as a new research unit within the Institute. Creation of the Centre is expected to contribute to its further development as an internationally recognized research institution. Planned measures address building research capabilities, intensification of information exchange as well as education and training. Specific procedures are designed to extend research activities towards new structural and functional materials, to implement highly specialized experimental techniques of characterization, modeling and testing of materials, to build-up cooperation activities with research institutions over Europe, and to promote knowledge on materials science by enlarging the training site for PhD students and by creating new learning opportunities for young scientists.
